7-ply shell in sapele, an African wood with a deep rich sound, often used in lutherie and especially effective for attack, projection and acoustic reflection.
Seven layers of lacquer instead of the usual three for a sound which is even more rounded, more intense and more brilliant. For an optimum sound quality, each coat of lacquer is applied by hand and left overnight to dry before the next coat.
With the wooden hoops you can obtain a more passionate sound, perfect for Afro-Cuban music.

The snare drum throw-off uses a fabric strip rather than a plastic strip to obtain a better timbre vibration and a better robustness.
